January 2025 Payments
If you receive monthly benefits from PBGC through direct deposit, your payment will be deposited on Thursday, January 2, 2025. January 1 is a holiday, and, for tax purposes, your January payment cannot be distributed in 2024. Payments made by check will be mailed on Friday December 27, 2024. Due to the New Year’s Day holiday, please allow additional time for delivery.
IRS Form 1099-R Distribution
Your IRS Form 1099-R, for benefits paid by PBGC, which reports to the IRS the amount you earned from PBGC in 2024, will be mailed to you through the U.S. Postal Service by Friday January 31, 2025. Please allow time for delivery. Your IRS Form 1099-R will be available to download and print from MyPBA on or after Monday February 3, 2025.

Fraud Awareness
Scam Alert: Individuals posing online as PBGC employees have contacted customers to obtain information. Please be aware that PBGC will never send you email, texts, or unsolicited social media messages to request personal or financial information. This includes requests for Social Security numbers, passwords, or similar information. Additionally, please keep in mind that all PBGC email and web addresses will end in .gov.
Do You Want to Change Your Tax Withholding?
You have three options to update your federal income tax withholding:
- Log in to your MyPBA account, or set up an account if you don’t already have one. Once your account is ready, you can update your federal tax withholding online.
- Download and print IRS Form W-4P. Please complete and sign the form, then send it to PBGC.
- Call PBGC’s Customer Contact Center and ask to have the form mailed to your home address. Once you receive the form, please complete and sign it, then send it to PBGC.

New! Updated Login.gov User’s Guide and In-Person Proofing for Login.gov
The Login.gov User Guide has been updated! It includes the new in-person proofing process where proof documents can be taken to the post office when setting up a Login.gov account for MyPBA access.
